Sánchez rewards the government delegate in Valencia and dismisses Ana Redondo, his Minister of Equality, from the Executive

Few surprises in the new Executive Commission of the PSOE resulting from the Federal Committee held in Seville. Only two changes attract attention in the list announced after midnight: the Minister for Equality, Ana Redondoceases to be secretary of the branch of the party body and is replaced by Pilar Bernabé, government delegate in Valencia and on the front line of national politics since the DANA of October 29.

The secretary general of the PSOE, Pedro Sanchezhas decided to retain the main leaders of its core group within the new Executive Commission, which slightly increases its workforce by counting 49 ex officio members.

Among the most notable names, and those that are likely to endure, are Maria Jesus Montero as Deputy Secretary General and Santos Cerdan as secretary of the organization.

The continuation of Cerdán represents a significant message from the secretary general, since he is one of the leaders of the formation subject to accusations of corruption in the ‘Koldo affair‘. The alleged commissioner of this plot, businessman Víctor de Aldama, accused him of having received bribes, which he categorically denied.

In this way, Pedro Sánchez reaffirms his confidence in the innocence of Cerdán, whose weight in the party was very important in this stage of socialism, forced to negotiations, particularly with the Catalan independencein search of the stability that the coalition government needs to carry out its project.

Also essential is the work of the First Vice President and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, in conversations with government partners, now focused on obtaining support for next year’s general budgets, once it will have succeeded in moving forward, not without difficulties, what is called the “budgetary package”.

Likewise, Sánchez revalidated the positions within the Executive of numerous ministers such as Félix Bolaños, Óscar Puente, Pilar Alegría, Elma Saiz, Jordi Hereu And Isabelle Rodriguez.

The members of the Council of Ministers do not continue, in addition to Redondo, they are the Minister of Science, Diane Morantwho is the new secretary general of the PSOE in the Valencian Community; And Therese Riberawho will be appointed new executive vice-president of the European Commission.

Likewise, Marisol Mateos, Idoia Mendía, Patricia Blanquer, Pedro Casares, Luz Martínez Seijo, María Nieves Ramírez, Amparo Marco Gual, Carolina Darias and Pilar Cancela leave the leadership of the PSOE.

The party’s proposals

In addition to the renewal of the Executive Commission, the party announced various agreements and proposals which will serve as a road map, such as include in the Constitution the revaluation of pensions or promote a reform of the Organic Law of the General Electoral Regime (LOREG) to reduce the voting age to 16an old demand of the Socialist Youth.

He also approved different measures to insert “more transparency” and “accountability” in social networks and the media, in accordance with the Democratic Regeneration Plan approved by the government of Pedro Sánchez. Specifically, socialist ideology will include pressure for legislative reform to require all media to make their funding sources public.

Socialists will also demand the creation of verification systems for all media, social networks and messaging, which inform citizens of false content and discourage their circulation.

Among the most controversial measures is the approval of an amendment aimed at modifying its framework presentation and thus remove the acronym “Q+” references made in this text to LGBTI collective. These acronyms refer to people weird and other identities and orientations that are part of the collective.

The amendment was promoted by one of the feminist currents of the party and has already been criticized by other political groups such as Podemos or Sumar. From the party led by Yolanda Díaz, they declared that “the fight for rights cannot leave anyone behind.”
