Sánchez Sumar and Bildu’s partners will attend the inauguration of the Mexican president who vetoed the king

Gerard Pisarello, The inauguration will be attended by MP Sumar and Leader of the Commons, and Jon Iñarritu, MP Bildu, who did not invite King Felipe VI to the event. The Spanish head of state was excluded from the inauguration of the Mexican president in retaliation for the monarch’s failure to respond to a letter from Andrés López Obrador, former president of Mexico, in which he asked him to apologize for the “grievances of the colonial past.”

Pisarello also justified the exclusion of Felipe VI from the ceremony and accused the king of acting with “arrogance” and “enormous clumsiness.” The deputy confirmed that he would attend the event and that he would pay “respect to this worthy people” that is Mexico.

Mexico’s president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, explained on Wednesday that the reason she decided not to invite King Felipe VI to her inauguration, despite having summoned Pedro Sánchez, is the Spanish monarch’s lack of response to a letter from current Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador. The Mexican president sent it in 2019 to demand that Spain apologize for “grievances” from the colonial past.
