The President of the Government, Pedro Sanchezalso spoke out to publicly defend her state attorney general, Álvaro Garcia Ortiz(“Who does the prosecution report to?”) after his accusation by the Supreme Court for allegedly revealing secret tax data from Alberto González Amador, boyfriend of the president of Madrid, Isabel Diaz Ayuso. And in a double pirouette with a somersault, he escaped the prosecution’s arguments against García Ortiz by attacking Ayuso and his partner: he called García Amador a “confessed criminal” and demanded that Feijóo resign from the regional leader.
Sánchez did not stop there and also attacked Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, saying that: “the origin of all this is that the chief of staff of the president of the Community of Madrid, at the time partner of this confessed criminal, spread a hoax to put the lie of a criminal on the side of the Attorney General of the State”, launched Sánchez during a press conference at the end of the summit of heads of state and government of the European Union, where he defended that Garcia Ortiz did his job.
Pedro Sánchez adopted a harsh tone against Ayuso and his partner, following the strategy used by the government regarding the famous data leaks from Ayuso’s partner to government-linked media. The head of the Executive attacked Rodríguez, assuring that “the origin of all this (the Attorney General’s accusation) is thatthe chief of staff of the president of the Community of Madrid, at the time partner of this confessed criminal, spread a hoax to put a criminal’s lie on the side of the state attorney general’s office.
Pedro Sánchez launched another blow for García Ortizas the ministers have already done Felix Bolanos, Pilar Alegria either Maria Jesus Montero and assured that the Attorney General “did his job”, which consists of prosecuting the crimes and fighting “a hoax” and that it is missing that the national leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, demands the resignation of “his boss ” as Díaz Ayuso once again referred to.
Tax Council defeats García Ortiz
The absolute majority of Tax advice demands the resignation of Álvaro García Ortiz. Seven deputies against four took a position this Thursday in favor of the departure of the state attorney general after his indictment by the Supreme Court for a matter of revealing secrets. García Ortiz reaffirmed his position of not resigningarguing that their actions were based on “the duty to report on relevant issues to ensure the right of citizens to receive truthful information”. He maintains that after assessing the circumstances, he considered that its continuity was “the least painful and more prudent for the institution.
Members of the Association of Prosecutors present at the meeting stated that “you have to think on the question of whether the most practical thing for the public prosecutor’s office would be for its highest representative to be the subject of a judicial investigation for possible criminal responsibilities in the exercise of his functions.
