Spokesperson for Vox in Congress, Pepa Millánattacked the government of Pedro Sánchez for its handling of the Valencia floods, accusing it of prioritizing political interests over the lives of Valencians. The deputy assures that Sánchez “did not lift a finger from the first day because for him the important thing was to place his people on TVE rather than on the tragedy of DANA”.
In a harsh intervention in the Cortes, the deputy from Córdoba accused the government of Pedro Sánchez of its management of the devastating floods that hit Valencia: “Mr. Minister [Marlaska]“I imagine that even you will recognize that you are not the one who should be here to make this appearance,” Millán began, adding that Marlaska “is another interchangeable tool for Sánchez, who has been given the arduous task of defend the indefensible.
The MP harshly questioned the government’s response to the disaster. “Sánchez should be here today, showing his face, explaining why he didn’t lift a finger from day one, explaining why, on the day of the flood, the government’s priority was to place his own people on Spanish television and not to help the Valencians.
Millán also criticized Minister Teresa Ribera, whom he blamed for the fact that the prisoners were not executed, even though some were announced by his own party. “And of course, Sánchez ran off to say at this climate summit that climate change is killing, and here you are saying that the fault lies with citizens who emit CO2? Well, look, what kills is not declaring an emergency. What kills is sitting back and watching the catastrophe happen without lifting a finger out of pure political interest. What kills is not having built the structures and demolished the dams out of pure climate fanaticism. “This is what kills, not climate change.”
Millán denounced the government’s lack of action and its inability to respond to emergencies. “Several things have become clear here. First, we have a malicious government that acted with malice, which abandoned the Valencians to their fate, taking revenge for not having elected a regional Socialist Party government. “That he was fully aware of the seriousness of the facts and that he did not act and the proof of his bad intention is that when it interests you, you distort the law to the point of exhaustion for the benefit of your separatist partners.”
Finally, the Vox MP concluded her intervention with a strong message on the Government’s lack of commitment. “You are doing nothing but increasing taxes on Spaniards who live for and pay and pay and pay in the name of a state that does not exist when necessary. You announced that you were going to postpone the payment of personal income tax until 2025… Hey, 2025 is the day after tomorrow! How will people who have lost everything pay their taxes today or in six months? A people who have lost absolutely everything. How are they going to pay for this? And where does this money go? It’s not going to health care, or education, or trains. You break collection records and when a misfortune like the one in Valencia occurs, it is ordinary Spaniards who have to take their car and go there to serve the people, because the State is neither there nor expected.
