Pedro Sánchez has decided to accelerate the deadlines for organic renewal in order to promote new territorial leadership as quickly as possible in some key locations during the next electoral cycle. And all eyes are on Andalusia first.
The decision to bring forward the Congress, as reported by The Objective, and the fact that it will be held in Seville already represent a political message. The elections to the Governing Council are scheduled for June 2026 and Ferraz’s intention is to achieve them this time, and unlike last time, with minimal options to be able to fight President Juanma Moreno. And that is why Andalusia is one of the socialist federations most likely to face a deeper renewal.
The party’s plans include calling a federal committee on the first weekend of September, in which the debate on the renewal of the leadership can also be addressed. While Parliament is on hold due to the lack of a parliamentary majority in Congress after the discouragement of Junts, Ferraz and Moncloa are activating the political machine to try to give political content to a mandate marked mainly by concessions to Catalonia, with the amnesty law and the single financing pact.
In this context, the socialist ranks consider it essential to ensure greater electoral competitiveness in many territories where the PSOE suffered resounding electoral defeats in the last cycle of regional elections. That is why Pedro Sánchez is bringing forward the Congress to next November.
