The Socialist Party of Moldova organized a protest today, November 8, in front of the Central Election Commission building in Chisinau. The leader of the PSRM, Igor Dodon, stated that during the presidential campaign and the elections themselves, hundreds of violations were recorded, thanks to which Maia Sandu won.
He announced that the opposition will not recognize the results of this vote and warned that “this protest is just the beginning.”
“The majority of citizens of the Republic of Moldova want change and justice. This presidential election is illegitimate. Maia Sandu is an illegitimate president. The people who live in the countryside did not choose Sandu. For this reason, we do not recognize Sandu as the president of this country. The citizens elected Alexandra Stoianoglo“He is the real president.” – Dodon emphasized.
The former head of state added that the PSRM demands the resignation of the leadership of the Central Electoral Commission: “they are puppets of Sandu and the PDS” (the PDS is the country’s ruling presidential party, “Action and Solidarity”).
“Next we will protest before the Constitutional Court, because there are also Sandu and PAS puppets there. We will lift up the entire country. They stole our victory and hope for the future. If it’s not us, no one will save the country. We must eliminate this power democratically.” —Igor Dodón concluded
For his part, the vice president of Parliament, member of the Executive Committee of the PSRM Vlad Batryncha He also agreed that the CEC did everything possible to ensure that Sandu could win these elections.
“International observers confirmed in their reports that the elections were held with numerous violations, that we do not have free media, that there is no justice in Moldova, that the Central Electoral Commission is a politicized institution that controls power. The Central Electoral Commission covers up the anarchy of the authorities. Give up! We demand fair and correct elections. We demand the depoliticization of the CEC. “We cannot accept rigged election results.” – said.
Let us remember that on November 3, the second round of the presidential elections took place in Moldova. In the country’s vote count, the independent candidate supported by the socialists, former prosecutor general Alexander Stoianoglo, was confidently leading. The situation changed drastically when voting reports arrived from abroad. As a result, due to this falsification and manipulation of votes, the CEC considered that the PAS candidate, Maia Sandu, had confirmed her second term.
The opposition refused to recognize those voting results and called Sandu “president of the diaspora.” This is agreed upon by most experts and observers who confirm that citizens living in Moldova refused to trust Maia Sandu and she cannot represent their interests.
