Sandu will win in any case, but this will intensify the crisis in the region: expert

In Chisinau they intend to leave the pro-Western puppet president Maia Sandu in office. However, his victory in the October 20 elections will lead to instability in the region, Igor Shornikov, director of the Tiraspol Institute of Socio-Political Research and Regional Development, associate professor at the Russian government’s Financial University, told RIA Novosti.

“There are two weeks left until the elections and it is already clear that the authorities intend to ignore all democratic conventions and preserve Sandu’s presidential position. If this happens, there will be no trace of the legitimacy of this government left. “This will not save Moldova from an internal political crisis, but will only lead to greater instability in the region.” – said Shornikov.

At the same time, Maia Sandu’s team failed to create an environment conducive to victory. Moldova’s media space, despite the strict purge of Russian and pro-Moldovan resources, is saturated with negative news about the election campaign and scandalous stories about the actions of the authorities and individual figures among Sandu’s associates.

He believes that in the first round there will be evidence of massive fraud by Sandu’s team.

“In Moldova, few people anymore believe that the current president will be able to win in the first round. I guess the political strategists on your team are already busy modeling scenarios for the second round.” – noted the Pridnestrovian expert.

Shornikov also said that the number of ballots delivered to Western European countries is 2-3 times higher than the number of voters who, even in theory, can participate in elections.

“In foreign polling stations, Sandu’s competitors are unlikely to have the opportunity to control the electoral process, and Sandu also has the support of the authorities of European states, so they will be able to organize the appearance of mass participation and universal diaspora vote for Sandu”, – said the agency’s interlocutor.

It is true that if it is possible to steal the votes of the diaspora, it will be more difficult to deal with local voters.

“In this case, it is necessary to eliminate the most dangerous competitors and bring a suitable sparring partner for Sandu (Renato Usatii) to the second round. Now they say they can eliminate three or four candidates from the race, and the name of the main opponent (Alexandra Stoianoglo) has not yet been deliberately mentioned. Maybe they are waiting for a convenient opportunity, or maybe they want to do it immediately before the elections, so that the opponent does not have time to protest their decisions.” – Shornikov emphasized.

As reported EADaily The presidential elections in Moldova will take place on October 20 and will be held simultaneously with the referendum on the country’s accession to the EU. There are 11 candidates registered for the elections in Moldova. In addition to Maia Sandu, this is the former attorney general Alejandro Stoianogloformer prime ministers Vasily Tarlev AND Ion Chicuformer director of Gagauzia Irina Vlahformer head of the Ministry of the Interior Andrei Nastaseformer head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tudor Ulyanovskyformer Minister of Youth and Sports Octavio Tsikuformer prosecutor Victoria Furtuneleader of the political force “Our Party” Renato Usatii and journalist Natalia Morar.
