The Santanyí Town Hall inaugurated this Tuesday a new gymnastics park complete without sidewalk located in the sports area of the town, more precisely near the municipal sports center and IES Santanyí. This installation, known as “Module D”, includes a set of games and structures of varying complexity, designed to encourage the practice of physical exercise in the open air.
Among the equipment presented, the park includes sets of balance points, high and low parallel bars, a backrest, pull-up bars and other elements such as a climber and a structure for TRX exercises, which will promote a space where users can work on their strength, endurance and flexibility.
The mayor of Santanyí, Marie Ponsstressed the importance of these
equipment, responding to a growing demand from young people in the town. “Many young people had asked us for a space like this to be able to practice physical exercise.” and stay fit outdoors. With this gymnastics park, we respond to these demands, and at the same time, we promote a healthy lifestyle for everyone,” commented the mayor.
In addition, Maria Pons wanted to thank the Consell de Mallorca for its collaboration in this project: “It is very positive to see to what extent the Consell is committed to provide cities with sports facilities like this. This helps us make the municipality of Santanyí a better place to live, where people have access to quality facilities to practice sports.
This is an initiative that has been possible thanks to a grant from the Consell de Mallorca, worth 17,080.38 euros (VAT included). The Town Hall became the owner of the installation and was responsible for making the necessary adjustments to guarantee the safety and functionality of the parkas well as the acquisition of the necessary furniture and additional equipment.
The Island Sports Directorate of the Consell de Mallorca, in collaboration with the Town Hallwill supervise the maintenance of this space thanks to annual inspections which will guarantee the good condition of all elements.
These maintenance tasks will include anchor adjustments and replacements, repairs, lubrication and any other interventions necessary to maintain user safety.
With this new facility, the Santanyí government team reaffirms its commitment to promoting sport and improving sports infrastructure for all citizens, thus pursuing the objective of making Cala de Oro and the municipality of Santanyí references in healthy and active leisure activities.
