The President of The voice of Galicia, Santiago Rey Fernandez-Latorre, has passed awayThe newspaper’s editor-in-chief also died today at the age of 85 and after a long career in the media world.
The news comes after the businessman’s struggle following a serious illness that in recent days the man’s health has deteriorated. The death occurred three days before his 86th birthday. The mortal remains now rest in the Santiago Rey Fernández-Latorre Museum, in the industrial area of Sabón.
The businessman born in La Coruña in 1938fruit of the marriage of Emilio Rey Romero and María Victoria Fernández-Latorre. His grandfather, Juan Fernández Latorre, was the founder of The voice of Galiciaa newspaper where he started working after graduating from law school.
It was in 1988 that Fernández-Latorre took over the management of the newspaper, a position he has held ever since and under which the newspaper has experienced great expansion. At the age of 85, and after a life as a worker and director of The voice of Galiciahas died.
The businessman leaves behind a newspaper and an eponymous foundation. Santiago Rey Fernández-Latorre Foundation was founded in the late 1990s to “give continuity to the ownership and editorial line of The voice of Galicia and its group of communications companies.”
Given the death of Fernández-Latorre, the Galician newspaper will have to decide who will take over as businessman.
