JAKARTA – Based on the data of the Central Statistical Agency (BPS) in 2024, the number of poor people in Indonesia reached 25.4 million. Lack of access to education is one of the main factors that impede social mobility, which complicates the departure of people from the poverty circle.
It is known that poverty is still a big problem in the social and economic development of Indonesia. In addition to the influence of the quality of life of the current generation, poverty can be transmitted to the next generation, phenomenon known as poverty between generations.
Based on this, Pt Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) seeks to encourage economic mobility through a mentoring and financing program. PNM is aware of the importance of direct intervention on customers’ children as the next generation, so that the effect of stability can be completely felt.
Therefore, in 2025, PNM distributed scholarships to 2800 customers who were divided into two batches. This scholarship includes the levels of education from primary to high school, as well as the Strata 1 (S1) program.
In addition, PNM also introduced a smart space of 132 points throughout Indonesia. This institution is a center for learning and mentoring for school -age children, with an approach to the curriculum, which is packaged in a cheerful and interactive method. It is expected that the Smart Space, equipped with digital technologies, will become a catalyst to increase literacy and interest in teaching children in a monkey.
PNM Presidential Director, Arith Mulyadi, said that education is an important key in encouraging social mobility and creating a better future for a low -income family. “We believe that education is able to create specific and stable changes. This scholarship program is a form of adherence to PNM to help customers not only in economic aspects, but also in the preparation of the next generation, who are more ready for future problems, ”he said, as cited on Friday (5/5/2025).
