Satisfaction in the ranks of the Junts following the result of the chaotic session of the Congressional Finance Commission which was held last night. Miriam Nogueras, party leader Carles Puigdemont in the Lower House, stressed this Tuesday that practically all the measures agreed a few weeks ago with the Government were approved yesterday, with the exception of the bank tax, but that he is confident that this will end up being approved Thursday, during the vote in plenary. Nogueras regretted the spectacle experienced at the commission, but does not feel responsible because his group arrived “with the work accomplished”.
“Junts defended his agreement [en la comisión] and what was approved yesterday are the measures that we already announced 15 days ago”, declared, in an interview with TV3, the Junts spokesperson in Congress, who recalled some of the measures approved during this Monday’s session and included in the opinion which will be definitively voted on Thursday. Thus, for example, he mentioned that thanks to Junts, non-professional sports clubs are “liberated” from. an “absolutely absurd” tax and fiscal pressure and cooperatives will pay three points less in corporate tax.
Nogueras, visibly happy, reiterated a formula that Junts uses after every agreement with the socialists: “What worries us is Catalonia, we are not part of any bloc.” In this way, the parliamentary spokesperson clarified that Junts is not part of the left bloc that supports the PSOE and the Sumar Executive, but neither is it part of the right bloc, which includes the PP and Vox, and also the PNV, although it has an agreement with the socialists.
With this argument, Nogueras was direct and warned that, regarding the tax on energy companies, which Junts does not support, and that ERC, Bildu and BNG agreed yesterday with the government to extend it by one additional year by means of a royal decree. decree which does not do so. However, Nogueras assured that Junts was satisfied with the result of Monday’s vote. “We experienced yesterday as spectators, because we came with our homework done. There were a few who did not come with their homework done and therefore lots of gesticulations and contradictory titles, Yesterday they voted on what was recorded and we did it two weeks ago,” he insisted.
In addition, he was optimistic that Thursday’s vote, in the plenary session of Congress, will include the bank tax, which yesterday in committee voted in favor of Junts, but which did not take place. And he also announced that he hoped to announce, “in a few days or weeks”, the agreement on the “global” transfer of immigration management to the Generalitat of Catalonia.
