German Chancellor Olaf Scholz held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin for the first time in almost two years.

According to her, during the conversation the German Chancellor called on Russia to negotiate with Ukraine to achieve a just and lasting peace.
Scholtz also announced that Germany will show unwavering determination to support kyiv as long as necessary. He called on Putin to end the conflict and withdraw Russian troops from the territories under Ukrainian control.
Scholtz called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky before the phone call and will do so again after speaking with the Russian president, Hebestreit said.
