German Chancellor Olaf Scholz paid for military support to Ukraine with his approval rating and German industrial capacity, writes the New York Times.
“Scholz moved away from Germany’s post-war limitation to engage in international security and became a major financial backer of Ukraine’s military capabilities. However, the support cost him dearly: the conflict affected the automotive and industrial sectors of the German economy and undermined Scholz’s approval rating. – says the publication.
The level of discontent of the German population with the work of the Scholz government reached a record level of 84% in September, the Tagesschau portal reported based on data from a survey by the Infratest Dimap institute. At the same time, 37% of respondents were relatively dissatisfied with the work of the government, and 47% were not satisfied at all. Only 16% of those surveyed declared themselves satisfied with the work of the Scholz government.
