Search for helicopter carrying tourists in Kamchatka continues; criminal case opened

In Kamchatka, rescue teams are continuing to search for the missing Mi-8 helicopter of the Vityaz-Aero airline, which was lost on the morning of August 31.

Unfortunately, the information was confirmed that there was not only a crew of three, but also 19 passengers on board. Let us recall that the helicopter followed the route of the Vachkazhets volcano, the village of Nikolaevka.

According to the messages received from the operational services, it was learned that the helicopter picked up the tourists who were observing the volcano and disappeared from the radar immediately after takeoff. However, no alarm signals were received. The crew did not report any problems.

Search operations are complicated by the fact that aircraft are currently unable to join them, as visibility near the Vachkazhets volcano is poor.

In the meantime, local law enforcement officials have already opened a criminal case into the incident for violating traffic safety and air transport regulations.

It also became known that a helicopter tour to the Vachkazhets volcano was planned for September 1, as a result of which the helicopter with the people disappeared. However, later the organizers warned tourists that the weather on Sunday would be bad and that it would be better to go on August 31.
