Second Trump assassination attempt rocks campaign, points finger at US intelligence

The second assassination attempt against Donald Trump in less than 60 days has once again shaken up the US presidential campaign and drawn all eyes to the country’s secret services. The former president and Republican candidate has blamed the “rhetoric” of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for provoking the attacks against him, trying to point the finger at Democrats less than two months before the polls.

While Trump points the finger at his political rivals, Biden points the finger at the Secret Service. “Thank God the president (Trump) is doing well. One thing I want to make clear is the Secret Service needs more help. I think Congress should address their needs. I think they need more personnel,” the president said from the White House.

Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe will remain in Florida “indefinitely” until the investigation into the possible assassination attempt against the former president is concluded. Rowe will meet Monday with Trump and local police officers who helped arrest Ryan Wesley, the 58-year-old accused of attempted murder with an AK-47 rifle, yesterday.

In a message published this morning by Truth Social, Trump thanked citizens for their concern and well wishes, as well as the United States Secret Service, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw and his office.

“And to all law enforcement, for the incredible work you did today at Trump International to keep me safe, as the 45th President of the United States and the Republican candidate in the upcoming presidential election. The work you did was absolutely outstanding,” the Republican said.
