The importance of taking urgent measures was emphasized during the debates of the parliamentary meeting within the framework of COP29.
This was stated by the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Martin Chungong, in his statement to “Report”.
He noted that at the end of COP29 he expects a resolution from member states to take urgent measures to prevent the climate change crisis:
“At the end of the debate, we want to see a decisive decision that promotes fair and equitable climate action. We do not want climate action to harm some sectors of society. We want to work together to ensure that the interests of all people and communities in society are taken into account as we move forward to address climate change.
The Secretary General emphasized that it is necessary to increase resources allocated to climate action:
“There is a need to increase funding for climate action. I think solidarity is very important in this matter. The motto of this COP is solidarity with the “green world.”
