There is already a date for the 2026 university entrance tests. In Andalusia, as in the rest of Spain, the exams, the most feared by students, will take place on these days. June 3, 4 and 5, 2025. This is the date agreed by the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities, CRUE, and It will be very similar to this year 2024when it was celebrated on June 4, 5 and 6. Everything indicates that The extraordinary call will take place on July 1, 2 and 3, 2025 although the dates have not been officially communicated to the Andalusian institutes.
No exam pattern
Now the doubt that students who take the exam have both in Andalusia and in the rest of Spain is what the test will look like since it is a new format announced by the government and which involves significant changes but There are still no models or examples that 2nd year Baccalaureate students usually use prepare for exams during the course. Nearly a month after classes began, pre-college students still don’t have the models they use to practice. These models should be released to the public around October 15 or perhaps a little earlier.
Four compulsory subjects, one specific and one common
For the moment, we know that the new PAU will have a uniform structure and basic characteristics common to all autonomous communities. Students must take exams in four compulsory subjects: Language and literature II, Foreign language II, A specific subject of the modality taken and a common subject which can be History of Spain or philosophy.
The new structure is somewhat different from the old selectivity, as it eliminates the possibility of choosing between two exam models per subject, establishing a single exercise model for each subject. This modification aims to avoid disparities in marks and to ensure a fairer and more uniform evaluation.
Subject coordinators may include the option to choose between multiple questions or tasks in certain sections if deemed appropriate.
The type of questions in each of the proposed sections may be tasks that require closed, semi-constructed or open responses provided that the score assigned to the open-ended and semi-constructed response questions/tasks reaches at least 70%.
Exam Duration
According to the minimum document prepared by the CRUE, The maximum duration of each exam is set at 90 minutes. The number and type of questions will be adapted to the aforementioned duration. It should be considered that students will need to spend time reading and analyzing, as well as planning and executing their response.
To complete the questions in the exercises of the different subjects, the necessary auxiliary materials must be established (dictionaries, calculators, forms, tables, etc.) and must be approved by the organizing committee.
Correction criteria for the new Selectivity
The correction criteria will be uniform throughout Spain. The coherence, cohesion, grammatical, lexical and spelling accuracy of the texts produced will be evaluated, as well as their presentation, which will count for at least 10% of the total mark.
The new model focuses on assess skills beyond rote knowledge. Students are expected to demonstrate creativity, critical reasoning, reflection, and maturity in their responses. The questions will be based on contexts close to the students’ lives and on real artistic, scientific, humanistic and technological environments.
These responses to Open-response questions will account for at least 70% of the exercise. Each exam will contain at least 20-25% skill-related questions that need to be answered.
Furthermore, according to the CRUE, the objective is to “minimize” the impact derived from the transition from Covid 2024 type models to the new exams.
