Sellers call buyers: “Mushrooms can be poisonous”

Two women aged 39 and 47 were admitted to the Khachmaz hospital yesterday with a diagnosis of mushroom poisoning.

One of them died on the way to the Clinical Medical Center.

The other was taken to the Toxicology Department of the Clinical Medical Center in serious condition and in shock, but it was not possible to save his life.

As a result, the fungus caused the death of both men.

How to determine if the mushroom that killed two people was poisonous? Are mushrooms offered to buyers in markets and markets considered a source of danger?

Sellers say that if the top of the mushroom turns black, poisoning can occur.

“Each of the mushroom boxes has a harvest date. You can tell whether they are poisonous or not by the cleanliness of the ones sold openly. If you look at the back, if it’s not blackened, then it’s fine,” said one of the sellers.

According to food experts, although there are many poisonous mushrooms, the most dangerous species grown in the country is the Amanita mushroom. Eating a piece of this mushroom can cause such a tragedy. Amanita toxins primarily destroy the liver and blood cells.

Food expert Mehsati Huseynova said that dark reddish mushrooms are often poisonous:

“Mushrooms that grow in the forest are in the risk group, so they should not be used. Poisonous mushrooms have a stronger and more unpleasant smell, which indicates that they are not edible.”
