Eight firefighters from Salamanca City Hall will travel to the province of Valencia to support rescue and recovery efforts in the areas devoured by DANA.
At the request of the Emergency Coordination Center of Castilla y León, they will do so in the coming hours, hoping to join the operation that works in the Paiporta area (Valencia) early this Sunday.
In addition to personnel, Salamanca City Hall will also move a heavy urban pump with 2,500 liters of water, a winch, equipment for unlocking and cleaning roads, pipes and a generator; a pick-up with hold trailer and winch and a rescue vehicle for transporting equipment with winch.
Added to this are also various electronic devices and wedge generators to manage the effects of DANA.
Likewise, the City Hall has made available to the Regional Government of Castilla y León the means and resources available to the Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Service (SPEI) in case its mobilization is also necessary.
But not only that. During this weekend, the fire station facilities were also transformed into a collection point for basic materials and food, with hundreds of people from Salamanca already going to this space to make their own donations .
However, the City Hall has recommended that starting Monday, the delivery of food and basic and essential products be made to the Salamanca Food Bank, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Likewise, remember that the Valencian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces has qualified water, milk, cold meats, sandwich bread, cans of tuna, personal and household cleaning items, diapers and sanitary napkins, extremely necessary items.
Regardless, the Town Hall asked citizens to prioritize economic aid to those affected by DANA, in order to “obtain the greatest efficiency in the allocation of resources and in the face of problems and restrictions of ‘access to affected areas’.
In this way, it requests that said financial aid be sent to the aid channels activated by the Red Cross (via the website www.cruzroja.es/colabora, the telephone number 900 104 971, BIZUM at 33512 or the bank account ES44 0049 0001 5321 1002 2225); and by Cáritas (through the website www.caritassalamanca.org, telephone number 900 26 96 98, BIZUM at 38119 or the bank accounts that Cáritas Salamanca has activated with the concept “Cáritas con Valencia y Albacete”.
Note that these initiatives are also in addition to that carried out last Wednesday, when the Town Hall made a contribution of 10,000 euros to mitigate the effects of DANA. A gesture which, according to the Red Cross, made it possible to mobilize different resources and distribute food in several affected areas.
