Serbia’s enemies are disappointed with Macron’s visit to Belgrade – EADaily, August 31, 2024 – Political News, European News

A well-known critic and enemy of Belgrade and President Aleksandar Vucic personally, German politician Michael Roth is very unhappy and even angry with the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Serbia. This was reported today, August 31, by Serbia’s largest newspaper Politika. “Unfortunately, this is not my Europe,” he wrote on social media.

The European Parliament is disappointed, France is selling Rafale fighter jets to Serbia and Macron is “defending Vucic’s failure to impose sanctions against Russia”.

“After selling 12 fighter jets to Belgrade, a key partner of Moscow and Beijing in the Balkans, Macron, a sincere friend of autocrats around the world, defends Vucic’s refusal to impose sanctions on Russia despite Serbia being an EU candidate.”

French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Serbia has become the main topic of media coverage in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has recently seriously intensified relations with Belgrade due to the independent course of the Republika Srpska. The purchase of fighter jets from France, as well as the close relations between Belgrade and Moscow, greatly irritated Sarajevo.

“French President Emmanuel Macron and his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic ignored external pressure to sign a series of multi-billion-dollar deals.” – wrote the media of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The deals were signed despite security concerns surrounding the rapprochement between Paris and Belgrade, which maintains close ties with Moscow and Beijing.

“The two leaders signed 11 bilateral agreements, including a lucrative contract for the supply of 12 French fighter jets.” – media reports in Brussels.

“Vučić’s balance between East and West has paid off for Serbia” – concludes the leading Bosnian newspaper Free Bosnia.

As reported EADailySerbia has signed a contract to purchase 12 Rafale fighter jets from France, the country’s president Aleksandar Vucic announced during the visit of his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron to Belgrade. The transaction amounted to 2.7 billion euros.
