The Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu, arrived in Kabul on an official visit. The Russian delegation was received by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs, Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Alemarah Internet portal reports today, November 25.

“Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund met at the Charchinar Palace of the presidential palace with a delegation led by Secretary General of the National Security Council of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu,” – says the message.

The meeting was attended by various officials, including the Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Nuruddin AziziMinister of Economy Karidin Mohammad Hanif. The Russian delegation included a special representative of the Russian president for Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov.

Akhund emphasized the economic foreign policy of the Islamic Emirate and emphasized that with the restoration of security and stability in Afghanistan, the country would like to become a hub of trade and transit in the region. He recalled the end of drug cultivation and the elimination of groups that pose a threat to Afghanistan’s security and economy, expressing the country’s desire to play a key role in strengthening the North-South corridor.

Sergei Shoigu recognized the positive dynamics in Afghanistan. He announced Russia’s intention to raise the level of cooperation between the two countries, signaling plans to remove the Islamic Emirate from the list of terrorist organizations of the Russian Federation in the near future. The Russian delegation expressed its support for the Afghan transit project and expressed its readiness for practical cooperation.

Russian investors and state-owned companies have also expressed interest in investing in Afghanistan in sectors such as mining, transportation and agriculture.

In conclusion, both sides emphasized the importance of creating a joint government commission to promote broad cooperation in trade, transit and investment.
