Failure of the rail traffic management system of the Renfe station in Castellbisbal (Barcelona) was repaired shortly before 10:00 a.m. this Sunday, an incident which left a section of the Rodalies R4 and R8 lines without service this morning, sources from Adif management informed EFE.
The interruption of service due to this breakdown forced train traffic to be interrupted on the line R4 between Martorell and Molins de Rei, and on line R8, between Martorell and Rubí. Rail traffic has been restored on all sections of the two lines, even if the trains are late, according to the aforementioned sources.
While rail traffic was interrupted, Renfe operated bus transport services for affected travelers in both cases. This Sunday morning, another breakdown in the electricity supply system in Blanes (Girona) also left lines R1 and RG1 without service. Adif technicians, according to sources from this management entity, managed to repair this breakdown around 9:30 a.m. service therefore began to be restored.
As long as the reduction in rail transport lasts, RenfAn alternative bus service has been activated between Malgrat de Mar and Maçanet. Due to these reductions in rail transport service, Civil Protection activated the Ferrocat prevention plan this Sunday in the pre-alert phase.
