The Paris criminal court sentenced, on Thursday, November 28, to seven years in prison the man who was being tried for having killed the son of star chef Yannick Alléno in May 2022, drunk at the wheel of a stolen powerful car, relaunching the question of“road homicide”. The court issued a preventive detention order with provisional execution against Franky D., 27, which will lead to his imprisonment even in the event of an appeal.

At the end of October, the prosecution requested eight years in prison with an indictment order, as well as a ten-year driving ban against Franky D.

The young man, who appeared released under judicial supervision, was tried before the criminal court for involuntary manslaughter with at least two aggravating circumstances: involuntary injuries and robbery with violence.

Yannick Alléno, fervent defender of the classification of the crime of “road homicide”

On the afternoon of May 8, 2022, Franky D., who is part of the traveling community, drove drunk and without a license aboard an Audi RS6, a powerful sedan, at 120 km/h on the streets of 7my district of Paris, limited to 30. With this car, stolen shortly before night, he crashed into a VTC and then into a taxi at a red light. He then lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a scooter.

The driver of the two-wheeled vehicle, Antoine Alléno, 24, and his passenger, Anisa, were ejected. The young man succumbed to his injuries, his helmet was found a few meters away. The passenger is injured. Franky D. fled on foot and was quickly arrested. At 01:35 a.m. he was checked with 1.56 grams of alcohol per liter of blood.

The young man was being tried along with two other defendants, René A., 47, and Sniper G., 20, prosecuted for group robbery. Both men were acquitted by the court, “for the benefit of the doubt” due to insufficiently characterized facts. Since the tragedy, the victim’s father, Yannick Alléno, has become a fervent defender of the creation of a crime of“road homicide”a bill that had to pass a second reading in the National Assembly, before its dissolution in June.
