“It’s good that we were able to adequately represent our country”

“We are fully satisfied with the performance of our athletes. We won 11 medals at the Summer Paralympic Games in which we participated with 18 athletes. Four of them were gold, two silver and five bronze.
I can say that with the result shown by Lamiya Valiyeva in her 100-meter race in the T13 category, we also set a world record. After 2016, parataekwondo was included in the Paralympic Games and after that we got our first parataekwondo medals. We were represented by three parataekwondo athletes and returned home with two medals. Considering all this, it is certainly a pleasure to have been able to adequately represent our country. “We finished the Paralympic Games in 28th place among 169 countries, and our taekwondo ranked second among 52 countries,” she said.
It should be noted that Imamaddin Khalilov (parataekwondo, 70 kg), Said Najafzadeh (T12 category) and Orkhan Aslanov (T13 category, both long jump) won. Lamiya Valiyeva won gold (100 meters) and silver (400 meters), Raman Salei silver medal (100 meters backstroke) and 2 bronze medals (100 meters freestyle and butterfly), Sabir Zeynalov (parataekwondo), 58 kg), Veli Israfilov (100-meter breaststroke) and Ilham Zakiyev (parajudo, +90 kg) won bronze medals.
