The humanitarian disaster in the gas sector is aggravated by 20 months of the Israeli war with the Palestinian movement “Hamas”. According to the United Nations, these conditions threaten to pay almost half a million people for hunger by the end of September.
The public health authorities in Gaza say that more than 57,000 people were killed as a result of the attacks of the Israeli islands, including more than 500 people who fell into random executions, since they seek to get food from the distribution sites, controlled by the Gumanitarian Fund, supported by the United States and Israel.
The war broke out in October 2023, when Hamas attacked Israel, which says that 1,200 people were killed as a result of the attack and detained about 250 hostages.
Here are some details of the humanitarian situation, reports Reuters news agency …
Food and consumables
In the end of May, Israel cut out all the supplies in gas, which aggravated a heavy lack of food in the strip.
Although some assistance is allowed, assistance officers say that they are almost not enough, and they warned that there was not enough fuel supply, which led to the suspension of incubators and ambulances of children.
The Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) said that the war destroyed more than 80 percent of water wells and agricultural lands in gas, which were used to grow citrus and olives.
The press secretary of the United Nations Organization (UNICEF) said last month that he saw how children in Gaza, demonstrating signs of malnutrition, such as the appearance of the ribs, and that the acute level of malnutrition increased almost 3 times from the moment of the ceasefire at the beginning of this year, when larger naval care flowed.
The United Nations agencies have not yet published an official announcement of hunger in gas, and this declaration depends on the set of criteria that measure the hunger on which the population suffers, and its assessment is evaluated through the integrated food security phase.
Nevertheless, a report published by the food and agricultural organization and the World Food Program in June showed that almost 500,000 people are faced with a catastrophic level of no food security, which is the worst stage of five integrated food security classifications from the point of view of seriousness. The report indicated that they will be at risk of hunger by the end of September, if there is no urgent intervention.
Another million people, or almost half of the population, are faced with an emergency lack of food security. Lack of water is a growing problem, as Unisef warns that children can die of thirst.
Distribution of assistance
At the end of May, the humanitarian fund in Gaza began to distribute food parcels and control the new assistance model rejected by the United Nations.
Israel says that the former assistance system allowed Hamas fighters to move the supply path.
The healthcare authorities in the gas sector said that hundreds were killed near the distribution centers of the Gaza Humanitarian Corporation or on roads guarded by Israeli troops.
The Gaza Humanitarian Corporation defended its activities, saying that it brought more than 52 million food to needing Palestinians within 5 weeks. The Israeli army stated that its forces opened fire on groups that were considered a threat.
The United Nations states that more than half of the missions for assisting, which were planned to be sent to Gaza in June and about 400 years, were difficult to enter by the Israeli authorities or refused to enter them.
Ilter and shelter
The war led to the movement of almost 2.3 million people in gas, and many of them were moved several times.
Since March, the Israeli army has issued more than 50 displacements, and the United Nations states that more than 80 percent of the sector are currently subjected to these orders or within the Israeli military zone.
With the siege of the population inside the sitting areas, many fled to stretching camps on the beaches or between buildings, parts of which were bombed between millions of tons of fragments, since they lack medical institutions and risky risks from continuous bombs.
Civilians often killed schools, and Israel says that Hamas uses these sites.
Health and disease
The World Health Organization describes the healthcare sector in gas as “in a deplorable state” with the lack of fuel and medical supplies, and a large number of victims are repeated.
The press secretary of the World Health Organization said that half of 36 state hospitals in Gaza is partially operating, and none of them work in the northern part.
The organization indicated that from the beginning of the conflict there have been more than 600 attacks on medical institutions, without anyone.
The deterioration of the state of health and living conditions is an ideal state for the spread of diseases, since the World Health Organization reported high cases of meningitis in children in the last few weeks.
The World Health Organization helps to evacuate the inhabitants of Gaza, who cannot receive specialized assistance, which they need a strip, but it says that there are still about 10,000 people in the waiting list.
