Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in a ceremony dedicated to the memory of Islam Karimov in Tashkent. Memorial events were also held in Samarkand and Karshi, the press service of the Uzbek leader reported.
According to information released, the head of state, widow of the first president Tatiana Karimova and representatives of government organizations and the public of Tashkent laid wreaths at the foot of the monument to Islam Karimov in the center of the capital.
“The Quranic suras were read at the Islam Karimov Memorial Scientific and Educational Complex, located in the former Oksaroy residence. The merits of the first president in maintaining peace and stability in the country and improving the well-being of the people were highlighted.” – says the information on this matter.
Memorial events were also held in Samarkand, where Islam Karimov is buried, and in Karshi, where he worked for many years.
