The hearing on the appeal against the sentence of SS (suspended), accused of extortion by threat, has ended in the Baku Court of Appeal.
According to information obtained by Pravda.az, the decision was announced at the trial presided over by Judge Emin Mehdiyev.
According to the decision, the appeal was not upheld.
According to the indictment, on November 25, 2022, SS took a screenshot of photographs shared by the (conditional) account of the victim’s wife MM on the social network Instagram and shared them on one of his own accounts. He wrote obscene, insulting and humiliating information on those photographs. In order to remove these posts from the social network, SS demanded money from the victim through threats and took a total of 295 manats from her.
At the hearing, the victim MM said that his wife is a blogger, one day unnecessary words were written under the woman’s photos on a non-social network and then shared. Other people also started sending it to the victim. Then the victim MM wrote on that page to delete them, there were photos of both his wife and his son. After that, MM himself suggested to him that he was ready to pay whatever was necessary in return, only that these should be deleted. MM pointed out that before reporting his complaint at the police station, he first requested it himself and then went to file the complaint so that this would not happen again.
According to the verdict of the Yasamal District Court, SS was sentenced to 3 years in prison and arrested in the courtroom.
