Sheinbaum criticizes “Spanish invasion” and thanks Irene Montero, Bildu and Sumar for their presence at the inauguration

The new president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, thanked this Tuesday during her inauguration the presence of “Spanish deputies” who went to the country to attend the inauguration ceremony, in the midst of controversy over the exclusion of King Felipe VI.

Gerardo Pisarello (Sumar), Irene Montero (Vamos), Ana Pontón (Galician Nationalist Bloc), Jon Iñárritu (EH Bildu), Ada Colau (Comunes) and Javier Sánchez Serna (Vamos) participated in the event.

During his speech, Sheinbaum reaffirmed his criticism of the “Spanish invasion.” “The origin of Mexico’s cultural greatness lies in the great civilizations that lived on this land centuries before the Spanish invasion, this is no coincidence,” he said.
