Shigeru Ishiba is the new Prime Minister of Japan

The president of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Shigeru Ishiba, has become the new Prime Minister of Japan. TASS reports this.

Ishiba, who became the 102nd head of the Japanese government, received 291 votes out of 465.

Second place went to the leader of the Constitutional Democratic Party, Yoshihiko Noda, with 100 votes.

Today, voting for Ishiba’s candidacy also takes place in the upper house of parliament, where the ruling LDP-Komeito party coalition has a majority, but the lower house’s decision takes priority.

It is noted that Ishiba will form a government in the next few hours.

On October 4, Ishiba and key ministers will give opening speeches in Parliament. On October 9, its lower house will be dissolved to hold early elections on October 27. Ishiba announced this plan on September 30, introducing the new LDP leadership.

According to media reports, this became a reason for the opposition to accuse him of violating the constitution.
