On Saturday, September 21, members of the Stop Croisières collective and Extinction Rebellion blocked access to the port of Marseille for almost two hours. Aboard canoes, they held off at least three cruisers. The objective of the action was to denounce the pollution emitted by these giants of the seas. Among the ships held was the MSC-World-Europethe sixth largest ocean liner in the world.
Inaugurated in 2021, the MSC-World-Europe can accommodate up to six thousand passengers in its 2,600 cabins. Three years later, these imposing dimensions have already been surpassed by those of a newcomer: theIcon-of-the-sea. The largest cruise ship in the world, a temple of excess, has the capacity to accommodate up to 8,000 people.
