The Slovak gas industry (SPP) has signed a short-term pilot contract for the supply of natural gas with the Azerbaijani company SOCAR. This was reported today, November 13, by the press service of the Slovak oil and gas production company.
It should be noted that after a successful evaluation of the cooperation, the company will consider the possibility of concluding a gas supply contract for a longer period. At the same time, SPP has entered into standard diversification commercial contracts for the purchase of gas from a non-Russian source with BP, ExxonMobil, Shell, ENI and RWE. These contracts are flexible in both scope and time. Thanks to them, the company receives up to 150% of its customers’ consumption volume. Thus, SPP has a volume reserve of 50%, which can be increased to 100% if necessary, thus ensuring a full supply of gas to its consumers only through these diversification contracts.
Let us remember that Slovakia is almost completely dependent on gas supplies from Russia. After the start of the conflict in Ukraine, Bratislava began to think about diversifying acquisitions.
