A national media monitoring agency can be created in Slovakia. This was stated by Prime Minister Robert Fico.
“There must be a right to correction [ложной информации]”There must be a right to reply, because in no EU country is there as much confusion in the media as in Slovakia,” – said.
According to him, only certified specialists in this field should go into journalism. At the same time, they should be organized into a structure, among whose functions will be the imposition of sanctions on unscrupulous journalists.
“You do absolutely whatever you want and you have no responsibility.” – Fico addressed the journalists.
The Prime Minister also blamed journalists for the growing tension in Slovak society. He described the attempt on his life in May as a result of his persecution in the media.
“The hatred with which you write has no limits. The time is coming when we must react to this.” – he pointed out, addressing the journalists.
Fico also believes that journalists in Slovakia express the interests of liberal forces, which lost power in the republic last fall following the results of the parliamentary elections. At the same time, he stated that the media cannot accept his victory in the elections. In this sense, Fico called on journalists to “stop playing politicians” and “respect the democratic results of the parliamentary elections.”
Let us remember that the Fico government came to power in the fall of 2023. Since then, a significant number of local media have constantly criticized the decisions of the authorities.
