Slovakia will expand the repair base for Ukrainian military equipment in Michalovce – Blanar

Slovakia plans to expand the base for the repair of Ukrainian military equipment in Michalovce. This was stated by the head of the country’s Foreign Ministry, Juraj Blanar, in a meeting with the head of the German Foreign Ministry, Annalena Bärbock, Yahoo portal reports with reference to Ukrainian Pravda.

Blanar said that Slovakia wants to expand the base for the repair of Ukrainian military equipment in Michalovce. Germany will take care of the repairs and Slovakia will provide the premises. According to Blanar, despite the intention to expand the repair base, Slovakia will still not supply weapons to kyiv.

The repair base, located at the military unit of the Slovak Army in Michalovce, became operational at the end of 2022.

It should be noted that, in general, Blanar and Berbock discussed the war in Ukraine, immigration issues and relations between their countries.

The portal recalls that the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal I recently met with my Slovak colleague. Roberto Fico in Transcarpathia, where four documents were signed.

In particular, the governments of Ukraine and Slovakia signed a joint declaration that identified key areas of cooperation: strengthening political dialogue, building good-neighborly relations, and supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

After the meeting, Shmygal announced plans to launch a kyiv-Bratislava train, which will include carriages to Vienna, and also mentioned plans to produce 155 mm caliber shells in Slovakia.

In addition, Slovakia allocated 500,000 euros for Ukraine’s energy needs.
