Emilia Alonso, a woman victim of digital harassment for more than eight monthsdecided to raise his voice and publicly denounce his case after receiving dozens of messages and calls of a sexual nature every day. It all started when someone created fake profiles with her photo and personal information on various dating sites, thereby unleashing hell on her daily life.
Among the messages you receive, there are some that reveal an explicit and worrying tone, such as: “Hunger won’t let me sleep, we should eat each other.” The phone calls don’t stop, we receive up to 33 in a single day. Emilia says the first clue was a message that said: “I planned to meet you, talk to you here, thank you for giving me your phone number…”. At that point he began to suspect something was wrong.
The situation worsened when fake profiles not only appeared on dating sites, but also on social networks like Facebook or Instagramwhere messages were published such as: “Slut, submissive, I will gladly do whatever you ask of me. I give everything. I challenge you with all your fantasies. Don’t hesitate and call me.” The publications, which even identified neighbors and acquaintances, increased the harassment with obscene offers and sexual propositions from strangers.
Emilia describes the devastating impact on her mental health: “I went to psychologists, psychiatrists, and now I’m not afraid to go out, but it’s exhausting.” Although he has already presented seven complaintsthe situation persists. According to National Police sources consulted, an investigation has been opened by the Technological Crimes Unit, but progress is limited.
The person concerned seems desperate: “Because everything is fine now, Or does something have to happen to me for them to act?“Neither the digital platforms involved nor the authorities have managed to stop the harassment, leaving Emilia stuck in a situation of prolonged suffering that seems endless.
