According to the expert, cars often travel on roads with different surfaces and each surface affects the tyres in its own way.
“There is a risk of mechanical damage to the rubber on gravel roads or even on roads with a small amount of stones,” Stasyuk said.
The expert said that a small stone caught in the tread may seem harmless, but it can actually lead to very bad results.
“Stones left for a long time in the tread grooves of the tyre can damage the sublayer of the tread groove down to the core. Moisture and dust falling into the damaged area initiate irreversible processes that destroy the adhesion between the core and the rubber,” he added.
Stasyuk said prolonged use of a damaged tire can lead to ply separation and premature failure.
“Even a tyre can explode while driving, which will almost certainly lead to a traffic accident with serious consequences,” he stressed.
The expert pointed out that tyres with a shallower tread depth are particularly at risk of punctures.
He therefore advised to regularly check tyres for damage, monitor the degree of wear and replace worn ones in time.
