Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s Social Democrats won elections in the Brandenburg region surrounding Berlin on Sunday with 31 percent of the vote, just one point ahead of the far right, according to exit polls.
The Christian Democrats would be tied at 12% with the recently emerged left-wing alliance Sahra Wagenknecht, while the Greens would be at 5%, according to polls broadcast by public television.
