Solaria partners with Japanese company Datasection to develop AI data center in Puertollano

Solaria has signed an agreement with Japanese technology company Datasection to develop an artificial intelligence data center (IA) up to 200 MW in its facilities in Puertollano (Ciudad Real), as the company announced yesterday.

With a pipeline of more than 18 GW, which includes photovoltaic plants hybridized with wind and batteries, Solaria recently inaugurated its Data Centers divisionwhich, as he pointed out, is now taking a “great leap” with this “important” agreement to develop, in collaboration with the Japanese listed company, this AI data center in the old industrial facilities that Solaria owns in Puertollano.

In this project, Datasection, which has Foxconn and Super Micro as strategic partners and benefits from technological support from Nvidiafocuses on providing GPU/AI Server to its partners as well as operating and managing AI data center and AI cloud.

The agreement provides for the implementation of a supply of up to 200 MW and the use of an area of ​​up to 100,000 square meters. in the Solaria facilities in Puertollano, which have what are known as “clean rooms”, rooms with a high level of insulation and air quality that were formerly used for the manufacture of photovoltaic cells and that will house the racks in the coming months of the company Súper Micro and the latest generation microchips from Nvidia that “will be the brain of the first artificial intelligence data center in the EU”.

Solaria highlighted that it is taking a new step with this commitment, through its newly created Data Centers division, by signing an alliance with Datasection, which has already launched the project and signed the memorandum of understanding for its first AI DC in Osaka (Japan), the largest in Asia and the first AI data center outside the United States that will be operational in the last quarter of this year.

Both companies intend to replicate this same objective in the short term in the European Union, launching the first at the industrial headquarters of Solaria, in the Castilian-La Mancha municipality of Puertollano.

Representing Solaria, the agreement was signed by the general manager, Darío López, and on behalf of Datasection, its CEO, Norihiko Ishihara.

He President of Castile-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Pageannounced the arrival of a “major data processing and storage center” for Artificial Intelligence in Puertollano, a project that will become a reality “soon” and that represents “magnificent news” for the mining city.

In this way, said the head of the Regional Executive, “Puertollano will start the course, and the region with all of Puertollano, with good news that supports a little more this important city of La Mancha as an industrial capital, today linked to new energies and the new economy”, in addition to computing. “Frankly, it is very good news that has paid off. Sometimes we put in a lot of effort and they do not succeed, but this, fortunately, has become today an announcement that will soon be an important reality”, he guaranteed.
