The province of Valencia is one of the most affected by the passage of the DANA, which flooded villages, hundreds of deaths and an unknown number of missing. For this reason, dozens of volunteers from neighboring towns Paiporta and Utiel mobilized to help their neighbors clean up the damage. They arrived in small groups of all ages, with brushes and buckets, and became one of many examples of solidarity that have been happening in recent hours.
Carlos, a resident of Torrent, went to Ground Zero, decided to lend a hand to Paiporta and took a tripcalls for more people to come: “Hears a shovel, buckets and helping people get things out of their house. Come help.” This supportive neighbor also requested that “open the roads so people can come and helplet the food in, let the water in, and let everything in.”
In turn, the Food Bank has already started to distribute food to affected provinces and set up a reception center at the Mestalla Stadium (Valencia) to collect food. Likewise, in Mallorca will install a collection point tomorrow clothing, water and food. Every gesture counts and there are many neighbors and friends who try to shed light on so much tragedy, while helping, from all regions of Spainis starting to trickle in.
For their part, the inhabitants of the affected towns are desperate: “Please come and help us now. They come from my daughter’s school, a mother came from my daughter’s school to evacuate my mother with chemotherapy to take her to Torrente,” said a woman from Paiporta. “It’s the second day, we need help please” commented another.
But requests for help do not only come from anonymous citizens. The Albal Town Hall, without services for 48 hours, requested the collaboration of citizens to make bring medications to your nursing home. The mayor of Aldaia, Guillermo Luján, also asked that people come to help: “We need manpower, help, collaboration. “We need collaboration to rebuild and get back to normal.”
