Some 160 electric buses have been purchased and will arrive in the country in the coming days.

“We have already purchased about 160 electric buses and they will be brought to the country in the coming days.”

This was stated by Aida Badalova, advisor to the Minister of Digital Development and Transport, during her speech on the second day of the Climate Action Week in Baku, reports “Trend”.

He said that infrastructure built in countries must be resistant to climate change.

He noted that Azerbaijan is committed to reducing carbon emissions.

“We urge people to use sustainable means of transport. Our goal is to reduce private cars by 30 to 40 percent. We want people to use public transport. We try to limit the use of taxis to the closest distance of 1 2 kilometers away.

In addition, we are working on the integration of smart technologies. We have already purchased about 160 electric buses and they will be brought to the country in the coming days. With this we hope to achieve the objectives we have set for ourselves,” he stated.

It should be noted that the Action Week will be held for the first time in Baku from September 30 to October 4, 2024.

This event will lay the foundations for the climate agenda of COP29, which will take place in Baku in November.

Climate Change Action Week will bring together key stakeholders from various fields, including politics, finance, trade, investment, science, arts, culture, society and media.

The main themes of the event will be “energy transition”, “cities and urbanization environment”, “water security”, “food and agriculture”, “small and medium-sized enterprises business” and “green skills”.

The first half of the week (September 30 – October 2) will be dedicated to climate solutions involving government agencies, academia and the private sector. In the second half (October 3 and 4), the focus will be on science, education, art, culture and other fields.
