Some 50 flights have been cancelled at Beirut airport

Some 50 flights were cancelled at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport on Tuesday amid Israeli airstrikes in the south and east of the country, the airport’s website showed.

According to information as of 1:16 a.m. Moscow time on Tuesday, 33 departing flights and 16 arriving flights were cancelled at Beirut airport from the evening of September 24 to the evening of the same day. Flights were cancelled by 17 airlines, including Lebanese Middle East Airlines, Emirates Etihad Airways, Emirates and Air Arabia, Qatar Airways, Saudia, Kuwaiti Jazeera Airways, EgyptAir, Jordan’s Royal Jordanian, Turkish Airlines and Pegasus, Ethiopian Ethiop Airlines, German Lufthansa Airlines, Eurowings and Sundair, French Air France and American United Airlines. Some of these airlines have already announced flight cancellations.

According to the Flightradar service, at 1:16 Moscow time, there was not a single civilian aircraft in Lebanese airspace.

Since Monday morning, Israeli aircraft began carrying out massive attacks on settlements in southern and eastern Lebanon. Dozens of villages and several regional settlements were attacked. Hezbollah, in turn, launched dozens of rockets towards northern Israel. The Lebanese government called on the UN to intervene and stop the Israeli aggression.
