Some ultra campaign posters that called Spanish colonizers “heroes and saints” appear altered

The original text said “neither genocidal nor slavery”, in reference to the Spanish colonizers. But this Saturday, coinciding with the National Day, at least one of the posters of the Catholic Association of Propagandists that appeared on billboards in the Madrid metro seemed modified to read the opposite message.

The author(s) of this “rectification” also left the box which highlights the term slavers and at the bottom it reads “neither heroes nor saints”, the opposite of the original message.

The advertisement is part of a campaign which, on the occasion of October 12, defended a historical story in which the Spanish colonizers would not have engaged in the slave trade, which is refuted by historians. The posters are placed on marquees and billboards throughout Spain.

The campaign which aims to legitimize the conquest of America by Spanish colonists since October 12, 1492 includes in its advertisements a QR code which contains a link to a video from the YouTube channel of the association responsible, associated with the CEU. San Pablo University.
