Son of Princess Mette-Marit of Norway arrested

The son of Princess Mette-Marit Norwegian Marius Borg Høiby was arrested again on Saturday for allegedly allegedly violated a restraining order in the case of assault and abuse against four alleged victims that police are investigating.

Officers confirmed the arrest of the monarch’s son took place on Friday afternoon after he allegedly contacted one of the victims from a withheld phone number on September 7, despite a restraining order that had been imposed.

Marius Borg Høiby, for his part, denies that this was the case and plead innocentwhile his lawyer said that in his 17 years as a defender he has not “experienced or heard of an arrest with such a weak factual and legal basis.”

Public defender Mette Yvonne Larsen, who represents the victim protected by the restraining order, stressed to NTB that such orders exist for a reason, but that her client had not reported the violation of the restraining order nor had she requested that Høiby be arrested.

In August 2023, Høiby, 27, was charged with assault, battery and threats following an incident at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment on Frogner Street in Oslo. After the incident, the accused admitted to causing injuries and damagesThe young woman accused him of having drug problems and mental disorders.

After the accusations against Høiby became known, two of his former girlfriends, Juliane Snekkestad and Nora Haukland, accused him of psychological and physical violence. The charge has now been expanded to also include reckless driving and violation of a restraining orderin addition to another previous case of bodily injury, as explained by the Oslo police this Saturday.

At present There are four victims in this casewhich Oslo police are investigating with “high priority,” according to NTB. In addition to the victim from Frogner Street, Snekkestad and Haukland, There is another fourth person affected by threats by Mette-Marit’s son, who recently declined to comment on the investigation “out of respect for all those involved.”

Fruit of a previous marriage

Høiby is the result of a previous relationship between Mette-Marit at her marriage to Crown Prince Haakon Magnus of Norway, and has no official engagement with the Royal House, although she attends some celebrations such as her half-brothers’ birthdays and has always had a close relationship with Haakon and King Harald V. and Sonia.
