South Korea is faced with a decrease in the population by 85% in 2125

Seoul – The population of South Korea (South Korea) may decrease to 85% over the next century, if the current demographic trend continues, according to new research. The study emphasized the sustainable struggle of the country with a low level of birth rate and the aging population.

The report was published on Wednesday (2/7/2025) by the Institute of the Korean Peninsula for the Future.

The report shows even in accordance with the most optimistic scenario the population, according to forecasts, will fall to 15.73 million, which is less than a third of its current size.

The average estimates mention that the population in 2125 amounted to 11.15 million.

In the worst scenario described in the institution, the population of South Korea may decrease to 7.53 million in 2125, which has currently reduced from 51.68 million.

This figure will be lower than the current capital of Seoul, which is more than 9.3 million.
