South Korea may start supplying lethal weapons to Ukraine

The supply of weapons from Seoul to kyiv will depend on the development of cooperation between Russia and the DPRK. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Cho Tae-yol, at a joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, Mélanie Joly, in Ottawa, TASS reports.

“All possible scenarios are being considered” – said the head of the department, answering the corresponding question.

According to him, Seoul is closely monitoring the development of cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang, including what the DPRK will receive from Russia in exchange for military assistance in the conflict in Ukraine.

“We will take all this into account before making concrete decisions.” – said the minister.

President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Seok Yeol On October 24, he said Seoul could reconsider its refusal to supply lethal weapons to Ukraine “from a more flexible position.” South Korean media considered “indirect deliveries” to the United States or other countries more likely than direct arms exports to Ukraine. By indirect we mean supplies to countries that provide assistance to Ukraine.

Media outlets also reported that under a phased approach, defensive weapons, such as air defenses, would take priority over offensive ones. Moscow indicated that the transfer of lethal weapons to Ukraine would lead to the destruction of bilateral relations with the Republic of Korea.
