The foreign ministers of France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain and United Kingdommet on Tuesday and signed a joint declaration in which they warned the Russian Federation that will intensify their “military, economic and financial support for Ukraine”.
The six countries assured in the declaration that they were aware that “our common security is facing to the greatest challenges we have ever witnessed in our lives”because “Russia is systematically attacking the European security architecture.
They also denounced the fact that over the past 1,000 days, in its war of aggression against Ukraine, “Russia has murdered several thousand people and repeatedly violated international law”. They also considered that “Russia’s reckless revisionism” and its “constant refusal to stop the aggression” and engaging in ceasefire talks “represents a challenge to peace, freedom and prosperity on the European continent and in the transatlantic space.
Likewise, they emphasized that Russia is increasingly dependent on partners like Iran and North Korea “to keep their war illegal.” Therefore, “to deal with this unprecedented challenge”the signatories expressed their determination “to stay united with our European and transatlantic partners think and act big when it comes to European security. » In view of the above, the six countries reaffirmed “the enduring role of a NATO strong and united as a cornerstone of European defense and security.
MORE THAN 2% OF GDP
Likewise, they undertake to strengthen the Atlantic Alliance “increase our spending on security and defense”, which in many cases will require “spending greater than 2% of GDP”. Specifically, they committed to investing in their critical military capabilities, “including air defense, high-precision strikes, drones and integrated logistics, as well as critical infrastructure and cyber defense.”

Finally, they expressed their support “for a just and lasting peace for Ukraine, based on the Charter of the United Nations, and reaffirming that peace can only be negotiated with Ukraine, with European, American and G7 partners at its side. » Likewise, they are committed to ensuring that “the aggressor will assume the consequences, also financialof their illegal acts which violate the norms established in the Charter of the United Nations.
