The fire, which erupted shortly after 9 pm on Friday evening, was damaged by the large mosque of Cordoba. The fire began in the “Orange Corps”, not far from the gates of St. Joseph, and led to the evacuation of the district on the street of Machistral Gontalz Frants to facilitate extinguishing.
Five firefighters, one cranes and national police forces, work on the spot, and all access points to the monument remain closed. Municipal sources report that the cause of the fire, in the visible, is associated with a short circuit in a cleaning car in the chapel of Almanor.
The flame and tobacco columns, visible from different parts of the city, collected a large number of residents, some of which posted a video about the incident on social networks. The gates of St. Joseph dated to the 10th century and restored in 2017 are part of the monument, which is recognized as the place of the UNESCO world heritage – a symbol of Islamic art and Christian architecture, after its inclusion as a cathedral in 12.
