Spain has 8,805 members in September for the “back to school” and unemployment increases by 3,164 people due to the end of the tourist season

September is a month of job creation and this was recorded in Social Security affiliation data, although this month the surge was very slight. However, the number of unemployed registered in public employment service offices increased by 3,164 people in September compared to the previous month (+0.1%), thus recording its lowest monthly increase for this month since 2004 and its best data for the month of September. since 2007 if we exclude the years of pandemic, according to data published this Wednesday by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy.

After the increase in September, driven mainly by the service sector due to the end of the tourist season, the total number of unemployed stood at 2,575,285 unemployed, the lowest figure for the month of September since 2007, underlined the ministry.

For its part, Social Security gained on average 8,805 contributors in September compared to the previous month (+0.04%) due, above all, to the increase in employment in education of nearly 50,000 people due to of the start of the school year and despite the drop in employment in commerce and hospitality, which had 41,000 and 30,000 fewer members than in August due to the end of the tourist season, according to data published this Wednesday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration.
