“Although our country is called “Georgia” in English, we are not an American state.”
Oku.Az 1tv.ge reports that this was stated by the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.
Shalva Papuashvili claims that the decisions made by the United States on sanctions against Georgian citizens have absolutely no legal basis and the American side has not been able to provide any evidence on the sanctions.
Papuashvili noted that Georgia is an independent state and no one from outside can interfere in the country’s internal affairs.
He spoke about the sanctions imposed by the United States against Georgian citizens.
“No one from outside can interfere in the internal affairs of Georgia from the point of view of justice. If they have accusations and evidence against any Georgian citizen, they should present it. But they cannot do so. Therefore, this decision is completely arbitrary and unfounded,” Papuashvili said.
