Special brigades are activated to examine electrical installations damaged by DANA

The DANA which hit Valencia on October 29 and which left more than 200 dead and at least 16 missing, caused significant damage to various infrastructure across the province. Many of them are already recovering, but there is still work to be done to return to absolute normality, more than two weeks after the tragedy.

The Ministry of Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism announced this Saturday that it had launched a contract with the Valencian Federation of Metallurgical Companies (FEMEVAL) to send brigades of electrical installers to carry out the overhaul and repair of electrical connection installations.

In addition, these special brigades will carry out work to check the electrical panels of buildings and homes affected by the floods.

Likewise, small repairs are offered, which may include changing fuses, which will allow “both the restoration of light as quickly as possible and the guarantee that the electrical installation meets the necessary safety conditions”, according to the Generalitat.

With this initiative, It is estimated that approximately 90% of indoor electrical installations that were disabled by the storm will be able to operate, thus restoring the electricity supply safely and permanently.

To achieve this, the department, in collaboration with Iberdrola, will allocate a total of 830,000 euros and plans to act in 14,470 establishmentsboth single-family homes and homes located in affected buildings.

“It must be explained that once the affected electricity transmission and distribution network has been rebuilt and the supply restored, there are indoor electrical installations in buildings and houses that remain affected and not all of them have electricity” , detailed the Generalitat in a press release. statement.

For this reason, “the action of low voltage installation companies is necessary for its repair and commissioning”.

After restoring supply to the affected distribution network, “the work of the Generalitat focused on detecting and mapping meters and electrical panels damaged as a result of the floods and on articulating the most effective measures for their overhaul, sanitation and repair”.

This is the third of the emergency contracts carried out by the Department of Innovation for the return to economic activity in the affected areas.

Thus, according to the Generalitat, Ivace+i took charge of cleaning and sanitation tasks in 40 industrial zones affected by the floods to offer affected companies and SMEs conditions conducive to the resumption of productive activities.

Likewise, Ivace+ has made available to workers in the affected industrial zones, from 6:00 a.m., free shuttles which connect Valencia to the industrial zones of Sedavi, Alfafar, Massanassa, Catarroja, Albal and Beniparrell.
