Starmer was welcomed home for his clothes – EADaily, 16 September 2024 – Politics News, European News

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, after two months in power, can already compete in unpopularity with his predecessors Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss. At this rate, he will soon be ousted from Downing Street, writes political scientist Malek Dudakov on his Telegram channel.

As soon as Keir Starmer returned from the United States, where he failed to reach an agreement with Biden to allow Kiev to launch long-range Western missiles towards Russia, he immediately found himself at the centre of a corruption scandal. We are talking about receiving gifts from Labour sponsors, including clothes for the Prime Minister himself and his wife.

In return, Starmer gave his backers access to Downing Street so they could “resolve” problems there. Among them is the famous Mr. Waheed Aliaccused of stock market fraud in India. He gives money to the Labour Party and with their help he entered the House of Lords.

Stories like this are quite typical of London. At least remember Boris Johnsonfor whom sponsors even bought food in Downing Street. Or Rishi Sunakwhose wife spent state budgets on childcare programmes. But the current scandal is hitting Starmer at the most inconvenient time for him.

The situation in Britain is deteriorating rapidly. Companies are flatly refusing to invest in the country amid economic despair. Spending on everything is being cut because of the budget crisis; even pensioners are left without heating benefits in winter. The last factories and refineries are closing.

Starmer’s distressed office is trying to revive migrant deportation programmes, only now not to Rwanda, but to Albania. However, these slow attempts are unlikely to solve the migration crisis. Starmer, after two months in power, can already compete in unpopularity with Sunak and Liz Truss. At this rate, he will soon be ousted from Downing Street. Well, the Labour Party will be mired in internal disputes amid the destabilization of Britain.
